Changing the Default Search Provider on Windows 8.1 with Bing

My Dell Venue Pro 8 gets a lot of use, and it’s a great tablet once you get used to the Metro touch interface.  The default search engine is Bing, and it just doesn’t provide as many search results as google.  Normally, I’d just switch search provider to google and I’d be done.  Unfortunately, Microsoft seems determined to keep the internet explorer search provider set to use Bing, and makes it seemingly impossible to change search providers to google.com on the tablet.  I found a simple workaround.  Install google toolbar, enable it in IE, and set google as default search engine.  Later, you can disable the google toolbar it you like, but google will be your search provider.
